Students Win Jules Schwimmer Scholarships
Eight students with family ties to members of the American
Pet Products Manufacturers Association (Greenwich, Conn.)
received $1,000 Jules Schwimmer scholarships for 2004: Kristin
Buechel, Kaytee Products (Chilton, Wis.); Vartanoush Defterderian,
Bamboo, Div. of Munchkin Inc. (North Hills, Calif.); Minh-Bao
Le, Nestle Purina PetCare Co. (St. Louis); Jason Miller and
Amanda Weaver, Evenflo Co. (Vandalia, Ohio); Brian Timm, Kaytee
Products (Chilton, Wis.); Acacia Wilson, Pet Carousel Inc.
(Sanger, Calif.); and Alec Zimmerman, Nu-Tec Designs L.L.C.
(Redmond, Wash.).
In addition, five students received piggyback scholarships
from companies that administer their own scholarship programs
through APPMA: Charles Almiron, Naturvet-The Garmon Corp.
(Temecula, Calif.); Kevin Dewalt and Harrison Lippman, Frank
DeWalt Memorial Scholarships from Casco Group (Cerritos, Calif.);
Leslie Grossnickle, PBI Gordon Corp. (Kansas City, Mo.); and
M. Christopher Miller, the Earl F. Smith Memorial Scholarship
from Midwest Homes for Pets (Muncie, Ind.).
