PET AGE Presents Retailer Select Awards
Buyers cast hundreds of ballots for their favorite items in the Product Showcase during H.H. Backer Associates’ 42nd Annual Pet Industry Christmas Trade Show and Educational Conference, held Oct. 3-5 in Rosemont, Ill.—and the top vote-getters received PET AGE “Retailer Select” Awards for Product Excellence presented by Patty Backer, president of H.H. Backer Associates, Colette Fairchild, trade show director, and Karen Long MacLeod, associate publisher/editor in chief of PET AGE.
- Gold Medal: The Sasquatch Pet Bed from Unique Beast L.L.C. (Middleton, Wis.). Reminiscent of the comfortable Crocs clogs, the shoe-like bed combines an easy-to-clean antimicrobial base with a machine-washable faux fleece liner to keep pets cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
- Silver Medal: The Comfy Cone from All Four Paws (Los Angeles). Made of sturdy but flexible ripstop nylon, the conical collar prevents pets from licking or biting wound sites but allows them to eat and sleep in normal positions.
- Bronze Medal: The Bob-A-Lot toy from Star Mark Pet Products (Hutto, Texas). The interactive toy contains two food chambers, each with adjustable openings, so the owner can decide how hard the dog must work to get a treat. [December 2008 PET AGE]
