ProGroom Las Vegas Draws 400 Groomers
About 400 groomers from 25 states took part in ProGroom Las
Vegas, held Sept. 22-23 at the Las Vegas Convention Center
in conjunction with the SuperZoo West trade show (see “WWPSA’s
SuperZoo West Shatters 54-Year Booth Record”).
Groomers vied for $10,000 in the International Judges Association-sanctioned
grooming tournament organized by Barkleigh Productions Inc.
(Mechanicsburg, Pa.).
Barbara Prueckel of Doggie Style Inc. (Calgary, Alberta)
won the Double K World of Poodles Tournament. She received
$2,000 plus a trophy offered by Double K Industries (Chatsworth,
Calif.).
Prueckel also won the Andis Mutt Makeover & Purebred
Parade Tournament. She received $1,400 and a trophy offered
by Andis Co. (Racine, Wis.).
Tammy Colbert of Wildwynd Mobile Grooming (Huntington Beach,
Calif.) won the Laube Terrier Tournament. She received $1,400
and a trophy offered by Kim Laube & Co. Inc. (Oxnard,
Calif.).
Sandy Hartness of Sandy Paws (Yucca Valley, Calif.) won the
Ryan’s Pet Supplies/Metro Creative Styling Contest,
with her rendition of Barkleigh’s ProGroom Las Vegas.
She received $1,500 and a trophy offered by Ryan’s Pet
Supplies (Phoenix) and Metropolitan Vacuum Cleaner Co. Inc.
(Suffern, N.Y.).
The two-day event also featured seminars led by industry
experts such as Marlene Romani, Vivian Nash, Marea Tully,
Kathy Rose, Joey Villani and Barbara Denzer of Cardinal Laboratories
Inc. (Azusa, Calif.).
The World Wide Pet Supply Association (Arcadia, Calif.) also
offered a daylong certification program for companion animal
