Backer's Spring Trade Show Will Include Exciting Contests
More than 7,000 pet and gift retailers, boarding kennel operators,
grooming professionals, distributors and other buyers are
expected to attend Backer’s 17th Annual Pet Industry
Spring Trade Show and Educational Conference, to be held April
1-3 at the Atlantic City Convention Center in Atlantic City,
N.J.
Approximately 650 pet supply manufacturers and distributors
will occupy more than 1,150 booths at the show, which is managed
by H.H. Backer Associates Inc. (Chicago).
Buyers will have the chance to preview the latest innovations
for pets of all types in the Product Showcase. The special
display area will open at 9 a.m. daily—one hour before
the main exhibit hall opens.
Distributors and pet store owners and managers will have
numerous opportunities to win approximately $9,000 in cash
in the Backer “Cash Bonanza” contest. Entry forms
for the daily drawings will be distributed at registration
and in participating sponsors’ booths. Prizes will be
award throughout the weekend, and the $2,000 grand prize will
be awarded on Sunday, April 3.
John Misita’s Frisbee Dogs will perform “K-9’s
in Flight” each day in the Special Events Arena of the
exhibit hall. The dogs have been featured in programs on HBO,
Animal Planet, The Disney Channel, ESPN and more.
Pet store owners, managers and employees can learn more—and
earn more—by attending H.H. Backer’s free educational
seminars. The lineup includes “The Secrets of Selling
Holistic Pet Care Products” by Andi Brown; “Animal
Supplements Roar” by Dr. Phil Brown; “50 Ways
to Increase Your Aquatic Profits” by Joe Olenik; “Which
Comes First, The Customer or the Employees?” by Dave

grooming demonstrations by award-winning groomer Sue Zecco.
The Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council (Washington) will
offer canine and small-animal certification seminars. The
