Aquatics and Animal Drugs
The Food and Drug Administration in November issued a notice
of proposed rulemaking to implement legislation enacted in
August that will speed approval of new animal drugs for ornamental
fish, reptiles and other minor species.
The FDA is seeking comments on regulations pertaining to
the Minor Use and Minor Species Health Act by Jan. 10. The
FDA hopes to publish draft rules by late winter 2005, according
to the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association (Greenwich,
Conn.).
The APPMA Animal Species Remedies Committee hosted a teleconference
on Nov. 29 so members could discuss the rulemaking with the
acting director of the newly created MUMS office at FDA.

and the Law” section at www.appma.org.
